Celtic player named in SPFL Team of the Week
Some deserved recognition for the Celtic star this week.
On Saturday, Celtic won their most dramatic league title in a long time, as they took down Hearts on the final day with two late goals in a 3-1 victory.
It was a day when you needed players to step up and be counted on, and it’s safe to say they did. Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand (with an assist as well as his goal) stepped up and made the difference at the top end of the pitch.
However, there were some other good performances on the day. Namely, central defender Liam Scales, who was very important at the back to sniff out attacks from the visitors.
As a result, the defender has been recognised by the SPFL with a place in their Team of the Week for the final game week of the 25/26 season. Perhaps surprisingly, he is the only player from Martin O’Neill’s side to feature in the team.
Someone like Osmand, despite coming off the bench, can perhaps feel a bit aggrieved, considering it was he who set Maeda up for the all-important second goal after an excellently timed run, before scoring the third goal that secured the win and the trophy.
Nevertheless, very well deserved for Scales, who seriously stepped up and performed throughout the split.
