Defender signals Celtic preference despite Rangers transfer interest
Canadian defender is reportedly keen on joining Celtic despite interest from Rangers.

Canadian defender Niko Sigur is reportedly keen on joining Celtic despite interest from Rangers, adding an intriguing twist to the Glasgow rivals’ transfer plans.
The Hajduk Split player, who has already been capped 15 times by Canada, has been linked with both clubs this winter, but his preference appears to be clear.
Journalist Mark Hendry has claimed that Rangers are among the clubs “sniffing around” Sigur, yet the 21-year-old would rather make the move to Parkhead.
For Celtic supporters, that is an encouraging sign in a window that has been relatively quiet since the early arrival of Julian Araujo on loan from Bournemouth.

Sigur currently plays for Croatian side Hajduk Split and is viewed as a possible long-term option for the Hoops. Comfortable at right-back or in midfield, he could offer versatility and energy to a squad that needs fresh legs as the season enters a decisive phase.
However, any deal will depend on Celtic’s hierarchy progressing talks with the player’s representatives and the Croatian club.
At the same time, Celtic are close to finalising another important move. The club have agreed a deal for forward Tomas Cvancara, with Sky Sports reporting that the Hoops will cover his wages, worth £870,000, for the rest of the season. Crucially, Celtic will also have an option to sign him permanently in the summer for £7 million.
That structure suggests the club have learned from the Adam Idah situation. After Idah’s successful loan spell from Norwich City, Celtic were forced to pay a significant fee to keep him, when he could have been secured for less if an option had been in place earlier.
