Celtic rejected £25 million Premier League bid for midfielder

Nottingham Forest persisted in its pursuit of a Celtic star, but the club has once again rejected its approach.

The transfer window remained wide open for Celtic right up until the final minutes on Monday, presenting opportunities both to seek squad reinforcements and to generate a beneficial sale for the team’s future. In the end, however, very little transpired.

So much so that the Premier League team Nottingham Forest were more than excited about being able to obtain Arne Engels. The Belgian midfielder continues giving things to talk about every time he wears the colours of Celtic, and more than ever, he was the great desire of the English team.

Celtic reject Nottingham Forest’s £25 million bid for Arne Engels

It was reported that Nottingham Forest’s insistence on Arne Engels was surprising, as it would have been the third offer that the Premier League team made for the Celtic player, and the Daily Record stated that this figure would have been close to £25 million.

He was a player Martin O’Neill’s team would have considered selling. However, this offer was ultimately rejected due to the Irish manager’s plans for Celtic, as Engels was considered an indispensable player for the team.

Engels’ season had been consistent, having accumulated 37 games across all competitions with Celtic, scoring 5 goals and providing 7 assists. This made it clear that he was an important piece in the midfield and that there was no value in letting the 22-year-old leave.

This rejection surprised many fans, as the majority have not been convinced by the Belgian’s performances this season.
