Martin O’Neill hints at possible Oxlade-Chamberlain debut in Celtic’s next match
Celtic manager has confirmed there is a “possibility” Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could make his debut against Livingston at Celtic Park.

Celtic fans could get their first look at Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in green and white on Wednesday night, with Martin O’Neill admitting there is a “possibility” the new signing makes his debut against Livingston at Celtic Park.
The former England international was officially unveiled to the supporters at the weekend, appearing on the pitch before the Scottish Cup win over Dundee.
Paperwork was not completed in time for him to be involved in that game, so he watched from the stands as Celtic edged through. Since then, he has begun training and settling into his new surroundings in Glasgow.

Martin O’Neill hints at possible Oxlade-Chamberlain debut in Celtic’s next match
Celtic return to league action against Livingston, and attention has quickly turned to when Oxlade-Chamberlain will first feature on the pitch rather than beside it. Speaking to Celtic TV, O’Neill was asked directly if supporters might see the midfielder in action under the lights.
“I haven’t picked a squad yet,” the manager said. “But yeah, there’s a possibility.”
That cautious but positive update reflects the balance Celtic are trying to strike. Oxlade-Chamberlain has not played competitive football for some time and is still building up his match sharpness. O’Neill has already made clear that throwing him straight into the starting XI would be a risk, but a controlled introduction from the bench is firmly on the table.
Even a short cameo would be significant. It would give fans a first glimpse of how the 32-year-old fits into the side and allow him to start forming on-field relationships with his new teammates. With the title race tightening and a demanding run of fixtures ahead, including Europa League knockout ties, O’Neill will be keen to use his experience wisely.
