Celtic suffer fresh injury concern as 19-year-old forced off

For Celtic, the news keeps coming at a difficult time for the final stretch of the season.

New concern for Celtic after their 2-0 defeat to Dundee United. Young defender Colby Donovan, just 19 years old, suffered an injury during the match after a heavy collision with the advertising boards behind the goal, forcing his immediate substitution.

The incident comes at a particularly delicate time for the team, which is already dealing with several absences in this final stretch of the season.

Donovan had been one of the positive surprises since joining the first team, showing promising performances that even led to him being considered for international matches.

The bad news for Celtic doesn’t stop with injuries

As a result of the injury, the defender has had to withdraw from the Scotland U21 squad for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Portugal.

This is a significant loss for both the national team and the player himself, who was at an important stage in his development, having already earned the trust of manager Martin O’Neill.

Now, his recovery will be the absolute priority. Celtic hope he can return as soon as possible and regain the form that earned him a place in the first team. His recovery will be key not only for the end of the season but also for his future with the club.
