Celtic stars in action: International round up

Celtic players have been in action for their national teams

The fourth and final international break of the 25/26 season is now more than underway. With it, there has been plenty of action for Celtic stars so far.

So, let’s take a look at how they are all getting on.

To begin, Benjamin Nygren played 90 minutes for Sweden as they beat Ukraine 3-1 in their World Cup play off semi final. He assisted the opening goal after just six minutes of the contest.

As a result of this win, they will play at home to Poland in the final on Tuesday. This will be a rematch of 2022, where Poland defeated the Sweden to secure qualification for the 2022 World Cup. Though that game was played away from home, and not in Stockholm. This game will kick off at 19:45 BST.

Meanwhile, Yang Hyun-Jun came on as a second half substitute for South Korea, as they lost 4-0 to Ivory Coast in Milton Keynes. To complete the international window, they will face Austria on Tuesday at 19:45 BST.

Back to this side of the border, Anthony Ralston and Kieran Tierney were named amongst the substitutes for Scotland, as they faced Japan at Hampden Park. Daizen Maeda started and captained the visitors.

After 71 minutes, Tierney was introduced to the action, and Ralston came on ten minutes later. Japan would score the only goal of the game after 84 minutes. Maeda was taken off just after the hour mark.

For the final round of friendlies, Scotland will play Ivory Coast at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday, whilst Japan will face England at Wembley. Kick off times 19:30 and 19:45 respectively.

That’s that for now with Celtic players. Stay tuned for more updates over the rest of the international break.
