Celtic to bank fee as ex-forward heads for £10m transfer
Celtic are set for a welcome cash boost this winter as a former striker closes in on a reported £10 million transfer.

Celtic look set for a surprise financial boost this winter, with former striker Oh Hyeon-gyu reportedly closing in on a £10 million move to Turkish side Besiktas.
According to The National (h/t The Celtic Bhoys), the South Korean forward is expected to leave Genk in a deal worth around £10 million. Celtic sold him to the Belgian club for £3 million two years ago but included a sell-on clause in the agreement. That means the Scottish champions are now in line to receive a share of the profit from his next transfer.
The windfall will not be close to what Celtic might have earned last summer, when a £24 million move for the striker was discussed but did not materialise. Even so, the sell-on clause is set to bring in a decent sum at a time when the club are under pressure to strengthen their squad.

Celtic’s own striker situation remains a concern. Since Kyogo’s departure last January and Adam Idah’s exit in the summer, the Hoops have struggled to replace their former forwards. Johnny Kenny has been leading the line but is widely seen as still developing and not yet ready to be the long-term first choice.
In response, Celtic have brought in a new centre-forward, securing a loan move for a Bundesliga striker from Borussia Monchengladbach. The deal includes an option to buy, giving the club flexibility if he impresses at Parkhead.
However, many feel that one signing will not be enough to fully address the lack of depth up front. With extra money expected from Oh’s transfer, there will be fresh calls for Celtic to reinvest in another striker before the winter window closes.
