Celtic register an interest in Championship defender
This would be an interesting signing from the club

According to a report from Mark Hendry, Celtic have shown an interest in signing West Bromwich Albion defender George Campbell.
He mentions that, despite a poor collective season for West Brom, Campbell has been one of the “shining lights” and was nominated for Player of the Month last time out. He understands that a fee would be around £2.5m for the player who still has three years left on his existing contract in the West Midlands.
Coincidentally, the 24-year old is a USMNT international, just like current Celtic central defenders Aaron Trusty and Cameron Carter-Vickers. The injury problems to those two will no doubt be a reason that the club are trying to bring Campbell and/or other defenders to the club.
Back in January of last year, he made his USA debut in a domestic friendly against Venezuela, whilst playing his club football for CF Montreal of MLS. Since then, he has not made a squad, but will be hopeful his good form this season will be enough to make Mauricio Pochettino’s World Cup squad.
Certainly one to keep an eye on, and it is definitely – as touched on – a position that the Hoops need to strengthen in this summer, particularly if UEFA Champions League football returns to Celtic Park. Let’s see.
