Celtic player is SPFL Star Man of the week

On Sunday, Celtic chose the perfect time to win their first Old Firm game in 90 minutes for nearly two years, as they took down Rangers with a 3-1 victory at Celtic Park.
This three points confirmed that Rangers could not win their second Scottish Premiership title in the last 15 years, whilst keeping the Hoops’ hopes of winning the league very much alive, as they sit just one point behind league leaders Hearts with one game remaining.
There were a few solid performers on the day, who stood up and rose to the occasion, but the star man has to be Daizen Maeda, who scored a four minute second half brace including an absolutely outrageous bicycle kick to make it 3-1.
As a result, he has been officially recognised by the SPFL with not only a place in their Team of the Week, but as the star man.
Perhaps surprisingly, the Japan international is the only player from Martin O’Neill’s side to make the team. Perhaps the likes of Liam Scales, Kieran Tierney and Yang Hyun-Jun can feel a bit aggrieved, but ah well, the most important thing was the three points, and Celtic were able to get that with a minimum of fuss in the end.
