Ange Postecoglou tipped for Celtic reunion away from Parkhead
Ange Postecoglou and Hyeon-Gyu Oh could reunite at Besiktas as the Turkish club eyes the former Celtic coach.
After a very controversial victory against Hearts (3-1), Celtic FC crowned itself as the winner of the Scottish Premiership.
Finishing in first place with 82 points in its league standings, Celtic finally put an end to a season that was between ups and downs.
And while the news grabs headlines with the dramatic celebration in the final, a rumor emerges about two former Celtic members.
According to Turkish outlet Fanatika, after the departure of Besiktas JK’s coach, Sergen Yalcin, new names have come to light as possible replacements, including the former coach of The Bhoys, Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou was the coach of the club from 2021 to 2023, a period during which he revitalized the team and left a mark that is hard to erase.
The 60-year-old Greek-Australian managed to obtain five titles and a treble, in addition to recruiting key pieces to maintain a balanced roster.
It is there, then, within Celtic FC, that his path crossed with Hyeon-Gyu Oh, a forward who currently plays for Besiktas.
Postecoglou was one of those responsible for signing Oh during the January 2023 transfer window, so both, although only for a short time, knew each other very well back then.
Now everything seems to point to the two former Celtic members potentially crossing paths again. However, this could be hindered by the interest of major European teams in the 25-year-old player.
Turkiye Gazetesi reported that the forward has done a very good job this season, so clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have their finger on Oh.
If it turns out that, after a long time without coaching a team, Ange Postecoglou does coach the Turkish club, it is possible that both could reconnect with the bond formed at Celtic.
