Another Celtic star is off to the World Cup
Some very well deserved recognition for a Celtic star
With the 25/26 season now over for Celtic with a double to celebrate, attention will now turn to this summer’s FIFA World Cup in North America.
Whilst the main attention of Celtic supporters will be on Scotland, there will be on eye on the Celtic players representing their nations at the tournament. Daizen Maeda will be in action with Japan, whilst Benjamin Nygren will be representing Sweden.
One more Celtic player representing their nation at the tournament will be right-back Alistair Johnston, who is officially in Jesse Marsch’s final 26 man squad with co-hosts Canada for the tournament.
Having missed so much of the season through injury, it is great for Johnston that he managed to make a recovery towards the end of the season, play a big part in the run in, and get himself fit for a once in a lifetime opportunity – to play at a home World Cup.
As for Canada, if you want to track the progress of the Celtic star and his team, their schedule is as follows (all kick off times BST): Bosnia and Herzegovina on the 12th June at 20:00, Qatar on the 18th at 23:00, and Switzerland on the 24th at 20:00. #
No doubt Celtic fans all wish Johnston well, and hope that he comes back without any injury concerns.
