Celtic boosted as £6m target wants late January transfer
Celtic have been boosted in their search for a new winger.

Celtic have been handed a major boost in their search for a new winger, with a £6 million-rated target said to be keen on making a late January move to Glasgow.
Sky Sports report that Celtic are in talks with Frosinone over French wide man Fares Ghedjemis, while the Daily Record claim he has indicated he would welcome the chance to join the Scottish champions. With only days left in the window, the club are under pressure to turn interest into a done deal.
Ghedjemis is playing in Serie B and is valued at around £6 million. His current club hold an option to extend his contract by a further year, but appear open to a sale this month and are already pursuing a replacement in Mantua winger Davide Bragantini. That stance suggests they are preparing for his possible exit.

For Celtic, the attraction is clear. The team have lacked consistent quality on the flanks this season. Summer signing Sebastian Tounekti started brightly before his form dipped sharply, while Michel-Ange Balikwisha has struggled to convince from the beginning. Long-term injury to Jota, who is not expected to play at all in 2025/26, has only added to the problem.
In that context, a productive winger in his early 20s who is eager to step up looks like exactly the profile Celtic need. Ghedjemis has been one of Frosinone’s standout players and would arrive with the hunger to prove himself at a club fighting for trophies and playing European football.
There are still questions to answer. Moving from Italy’s second tier to a club where winning every week is demanded is a big jump, both in expectation and pressure. Celtic must also decide whether to pay close to the quoted £6 million fee or try to drive the price down in the final days of the window, a risky approach when time is short.
Celtic do at least have a backup plan. Hungarian winger Demir Redzic is also on their radar and has been discussed as an alternative if a deal for Ghedjemis cannot be reached.
