Celtic monitoring Norway international in €3m move

Celtic are reportedly weighing a winter move for a Norway international midfielder.

Celtic are reported to be working on defensive and midfield reinforcements this winter, with links to Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Aurele Amenda and Norwegian international Felix Horn Myhre emerging in recent days.

Sky Sports report that Celtic are preparing a loan offer for Amenda, who is currently with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 21-year-old Swiss defender has not been a regular starter this season, but he has still made a reasonable number of appearances and remains part of Frankfurt’s rotation. The German club are said to be aware of Celtic’s interest and are waiting for a formal bid.

Celtic’s need for cover at centre-back has grown with Cameron Carter-Vickers expected to be out for the foreseeable future. With both Liam Scales and Auston Trusty left-footed, manager Martin O’Neill has limited options for a balanced partnership in central defence.

A right-footed centre-back like Amenda would help address that problem area for the remainder of the campaign if a deal can be agreed.

In midfield, Celtic have been linked with Felix Horn Myhre of SK Brann. Danish outlet Tipsbladet report that Brondby want to sign the 25-year-old, and that Celtic are also in the picture. Brann are believed to value the player at around €3 million.

Myhre has broken into the Norway national team, making five senior appearances and scoring twice. His profile as a full international and his versatility in midfield make him an interesting option as Celtic look to add depth and long-term quality to their squad.

However, with more than half of the January window already gone and only one signing completed so far, there is no guarantee that either move will be completed. Celtic have been linked with several players this month without anything concrete materialising.
