Celtic dropped a French midfield option after sealing Oxlade-Chamberlain deal
Celtic had Tiemoue Bakayoko as a backup option before signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Celtic movements have been focused on being able to compete in the current season at the highest performance in all competitions and their ambition to obtain the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Where the arrival of a signing more than expected has been confirmed to add experience to the team of Martin O’Neill, a player with a long trajectory in the Premier League.
But before obtaining this player, who was a free agent, they saw all the possibilities of free players, and where, if they had not obtained Oxlade-Chamberlain, they would have gone for a French figure.

Tiemoue Bakayoko was on Celtic’s radar
It was confirmed by the journalist James Green that Celtic were also observing Tiemoue Bakayoko for the transfer window, and if they had not reached an agreement with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Frenchman was an option.
Bakayoko, at 31 years of age, came from passing through PAOK of Greece, but without having great relevance. It is remembered that his best spell was with Chelsea in the 17/18 season and with Milan in 18/19, being a defensive midfielder.
What Celtic were looking for was a player with trajectory and experience who could bring to the current squad the hierarchy that it must have, but by obtaining the defensive signing of Chamberlain, the insistence for Bakayoko was completely discarded.
