Celtic’s three attackers cannot match what Luis Palma did on his own

Celtic has highlighted one of its biggest problems this season: a lack of attacking prowess and an ineffective attack match after match.

Far from being the dominant team expected in the Scottish Premiership, the Glasgow side has suffered from the low goal production of its forwards.

Is Luis Palma the solution for Celtic?

The comparison is striking. Last season, Luis Palma recorded 10 goals and 10 assists, totaling 20 direct contributions.

In contrast, the current attacking trio—with names like Yang Hyun-jun, Michel-Ange Balikwisha, and Sebastian Tounnetti—has only managed 18 contributions combined, a figure that clearly reflects the team’s lack of attacking threat.

This deficiency has been a determining factor in Celtic’s results this season, especially in close matches where efficiency makes all the difference.

The absence of a reliable striker, capable of consistently finishing and leading the attack, has hampered the team’s overall performance.

Looking ahead to next season, the priority is clear: signing a decisive striker. While Palma’s potential return could help, it doesn’t seem to be the definitive solution.

Celtic needs a more impactful player, with a proven goalscoring record, who can guarantee results and allow the team to seriously compete for titles again. Without that reinforcement, it will be difficult to reverse a trend that ultimately proved costly this season.
