Tomas Cvancara is exactly the kind of striker Celtic fans wanted

Tomas Cvancara is off to a flying start at Celtic, following up an assist on his debut at Hearts with a well-taken header on his first appearance at Celtic Park.

Celtic striker Tomas Cvancara has made an immediate impact at his new club, scoring on his home debut in a 2–0 win over Falkirk and sending a simple but brilliant message afterwards that underlined how quickly he is settling in.

The Czech forward, on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach, found the net at Celtic Park on Sunday to continue what has been an encouraging first week in Glasgow. It followed an impressive debut away to Hearts, where he came off the bench into a tough match and showed his awareness by setting up Hyun-jun Yang’s goal in a 2–2 draw.

That assist at Tynecastle was all about movement and calm in a crowded area. Cvancara did not try anything fancy. He took up the right position, read the situation, and picked the simple pass that mattered. It was a small but important sign that he understood what his teammates needed.

Against Falkirk, his role was different. Celtic controlled the ball for most of the game but struggled to create clear chances. Cvancara was asked to occupy the centre-backs, attack crosses, and give the team a target in the box. From the first minutes, he battled defenders, made runs into space, and showed for the ball whenever it went wide.

His breakthrough came just before half-time. Kieran Tierney swung in a cross from the left. Cvancara timed his movement, got across his marker, and guided a header into the net. It was a straightforward finish, but it showed the instincts Celtic have been missing – a striker arriving in the right area at the right moment.

After full-time, Cvancara posted on Instagram. The message was short and focused on the win rather than himself: first game at home, three points, and a note about keeping things going. It matched what supporters have seen so far – a player more interested in doing his job than chasing attention.
