Super sub scores brace in extra time to send Celtic to final

Celtic faced St Mirren in a highly competitive match, a fixture with recent history after their last encounter in the league, where Martin O’Neill’s side had secured a narrow victory.

However, this Scottish Cup semi-final was entirely different, far more demanding and fraught with tension. Despite taking an early lead, the game became difficult for Celtic, as St Mirren rallied to level the score at 2-2 in the final minutes, forcing extra time.

At that point, doubts began to surface, especially given how the opponent had managed to shift the momentum of the match.

It was then that the star of the night emerged: Kelechi Iheanacho. The striker came off the bench in the 82nd minute with the mission of changing the course of the game, and he proved decisive. In the 96th minute, he scored to make it 3-2, restoring the lead, and shortly after, in the 100th minute, he completed his brace to definitively secure qualification.

Beyond the goals, his impact on Celtic’s morale was key. Celtic didn’t crumble after the equalizer, but instead reacted with character in extra time, displaying a much more decisive performance to close out the match.

Thanks to this collective response and Iheanacho’s leadership, the team secured their place in the final, demonstrating that even in adversity, they have what it takes to compete until the very end.
