Celtic boss wants Premier League integration to bridge European gap
In recent statements, Martin O'Neill made it clear that he has a big dream with Celtic to compete in Europe.

After a painful defeat for Celtic in the UEFA Europa League against Stuttgart, the team made it clear that it is not a positive moment for the Scottish league competing at the European level.
In the post-match statements, Martin O’Neill was seen frustrated with the result and with where he really hoped the team would compete positively in this competition and have greater aspirations, but the reality check was very hard.
Martin O’Neill would wish to join the Premier League to be more competitive
Following the 1-4 defeat against Stuttgart, Martin O’Neill expressed his displeasure to the Celtic fans and the current state of the Scottish league, suggesting that the best solution to be competitive would be to merge with the Premier League, as reported by Sky Sports.
“Eventually, if the SPL [Scottish Premiership] belonged to the Premier League, I do not think we would have a problem.”
Martin O’Neill
This statement made evident that what Martin O’Neill refers to is the great problem of investment that the Premiership teams have, since while obtaining competitive and higher quality players, they can form extremely competitive clubs.
“The Premier League teams that pay £80 million for players who do not even get into the team: that is what you compete against.”
Martin O’Neill
He also refers to how difficult it is to compete against the biggest in Europe and how the economic investment is frustrating for teams without this purchasing power, where the ideal would be to compete under the same conditions.
Celtic are on the verge of being eliminated from the UEFA Europa League, since a historic feat of coming back from 4-1 in Germany would be the only way to continue in the competition, but it seems impossible, so for this season, The Hoops will have been eliminated from the European competition.
