The stand out performers from Celtic win over Falkirk

Taking a look at the best performers from the win over Falkirk

On Saturday, Celtic made it four wins in a row and the perfect start to the split, as they defeated Falkirk 3-1 at Celtic Park, as they continue to put the pressure on Hearts and Rangers.

It was not the best performance, and they were made to work for the win, but in key moments, big players stepped up to help deliver the win.

Let’s start with the goalscorers – it has not been a great season for Daizen Maeda, but he scored twice and assisted Kieran Tierney for his goal. His second goal of the game helped ease the tension in the stadium.

This is a nice segway to mentioning Tierney, who aside from his goal had a very assured performance. It is clear the recent displays from Marcelo Sarrachi are keeping him very much on his toes. Across the 72 minutes he was on the pitch, aside from the goal – he made two clearances, four recoveries, and won 2/2 ground duels in a robust performances.

Even on his return after six months out, you could see just how good Alistair Johnston still is. His energy down the right side did not look like someone returning from a long term injury. One of his first touches was making an excellent tackle to stop an attack. Let’s hope he will be able to start as soon as possible.

Finally, a quick shout out for Sebastian Tounekti, who did excellently to assist Maeda’s second goal off the bench with a great ball. It is clear there is a very good player there, and he will be pushing to start the next game.
