Two Celtic players named in Scotland World Cup squad
Two Hoops will be representing their nation at this summer's World Cup in North America
Although there is still one more game, a cup final at that, for Celtic to play this season, attention is seriously beginning to turn towards this summer’s FIFA World Cup in North America.
In just 23 days, the tournament will begin when Mexico hosts South Africa in Mexico City in a rematch of the opening game of the 2010 tournament, exactly 16 years to the day later.
Meanwhile, in 25 days (sort of, with kickoff at 02:00 in the morning), Scotland will play their first World Cup game in 28 days, when they face Haiti in Foxborough at Gillette Stadium.
There could be some Celtic representation in that particular game. Indeed, as full-backs Anthony Ralston and Kieran Tierney have both been named in Steve Clarke’s 26-man squad for the tournament.
Now, Ralston is more likely to be on the bench, barring injuries to other players in that position, but Tierney will probably play a big part. He has been a very important player for Clarke over the years, and it was his worldy against Denmark that effectively sent Scotland to the tournament back in November.
Congratulations to both players, and go well at the tournament.
